Mayor Kim McMillan to proclaim Clarksville as “Purple Heart City”

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, July 1st, 2014, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will proclaim Clarksville as a “Purple Heart City” in a very special ceremony.

Rebuilding Together Nashville will be on location in Clarksville at the home of Todd and Cathrine Shaw, both of whom are Purple Heart Recipients. Mr. Shaw is the Commander of the Order of the Purple Heart in Clarksville.

“I am so excited to proclaim Clarksville as a “Purple Heart City” and I cannot think of a more appropriate place to do so than the celebration of this wonderful family and the rebuilding of their home,” said Mayor McMillan. “Todd and Cathrine have given so much to our community and continue to make a difference every day. I am so happy that they were selected for the 1500th Sears and Rebuilding Together Heroes at Home project.”

“I also want to thank Rebuilding Together Nashville for their hard work and vision,” stated Mayor McMillan. “The work they do is vital to our community and so very much appreciated.”

Rebuilding Together Nashville is one of 200 chapters of Rebuilding Together, a national safe and healthy housing organization that provides critical home repairs to low-income homeowners at no cost to the recipient. Rebuilding Together honors veterans across the country by keeping them safe and healthy on the home front through accessibility modifications and housing repairs.

The celebration will take place at 11:30am at the Shaw’s home located at 221 Shiloh Road, Clarksville, TN 37042.
