Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: Adaptive Yoga, Adult Softball registration, and 2nd annual Back to School Splash.

Adaptive Yoga starts July 10th at the Burt Cobb Community Center.

*NEW* Adaptive Yoga Begins July 10th

Clarksville Parks and Recreation is excited to announce the launch of a new program! Beginning Thursday, July 10th, the Burt-Cobb Community Center will host Adaptive Yoga. Adaptive Yoga is a beginner yoga class for those members of the community with cognitive disabilities.

Classes are offered every Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, beginning July 10th, 2014 through August 14th, 2014. Instructed by Radiant Yoga’s very own Trish Nagy, participants will learn useful relaxation and calming techniques. Adaptive Yoga is also an excellent way to improve fitness levels with gentle progression.

Aids are welcome to participate. Yoga mats are limited; please bring your own if possible. Adaptive Yoga is free and open to all age groups!

Pre-Registration is required and can be completed online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com.

Adult Softball registration kicks off for Fall Ball

It’s that time of year again, softball fans! Grab a team and register for the adult softball league! Teams may begin registering on Monday, June 30th. This league is open to men and women ages 18 and older.

To ensure your team gets a spot in the league, team deposits of $100.00 are due no later than July 11th. Teams may register online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com or at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Main Office, located at 102 Public Square. Games will be played weekly on Sunday through Friday evenings beginning August 17th. Games will be played at the Heritage Park Softball Complex.

Clarksville Parks & Recreation to give away free school supplies at the 2nd annual Back to School Splash!

Once again, youth entering kindergarten through 12th grade will have the opportunity to receive free school supplies from the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department during the 2014 Back to School Splash, sponsored by Agero! Participants will receive free school supplies and a fun pool party at New Providence and Beachaven Pools on August 2nd, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

To ensure that your child can participate in the Back to School Splash, be sure to pre-register no later than July 26th at recpro.cityofclarksville.com. Pre-registration is required and limited to the first 300 students at New Providence Pool and 300 at Beachaven Pool. Participants may only register for one pool location and children must be present to receive their school supplies.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the Back to School Splash school supply giveaway stash may drop off supplies all summer long at any of our five public pool locations as well as the Clarksville Parks and Recreation main office, located at 102 Public Square.
