Clarksville, TN – Kenny York, Founder and Director of Manna Café Ministries, will be spending the next two weeks as a homeless man in an effort to bring increased awareness and compassion for the homeless. He and the Manna Café team are increasing their efforts to launch a full-time transitional shelter in Clarksville, even though homelessness is “a silent epidemic” in this fast-growing community. This is part two of his adventure.

Automotive Manufacturer to Invest $600 Million, Create 2,000 New Jobs

State of TennesseeNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Volkswagen Group of America officials announced today the company will expand its sole U.S. manufacturing facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Volkswagen will add an additional manufacturing line and create the National Research & Development and Planning Center of Volkswagen Group of America. Volkswagen’s total global investment for the expansion will be $900 million, with $600 million invested in Tennessee and 2,000 new jobs being created in Hamilton County.

Fort Campbell’s Blanchfield Army Community Hospital earns safety recognition

 

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) earned the Army’s Safety and Occupational Health “Star Status” designation for safety following an on-site review May 27th-30th.

“Workplace safety is critical for organizations across the Army; however it is especially critical in a medical environment,” said BACH commander Col. George N. Appenzeller. He explained that worksite safety helps ensure employees and patients are protected from a variety of potential serious hazards in clinical operations.

Clarksville’s Riverfest announces Tracey Lawrence as 2014 Headliner

Fallen Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy David ‘Bubba’ Johnson to be honored with events Saturday, July 19th

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOMontgomery County, TN – Two back-to-back events will be held Saturday in honor of fallen Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputy David “Bubba” Johnson.

First, the Inaugural Bubba Johnson Memorial 5K Road Race begins at 8:30am Saturday, July 19th beginning at The Montgomery County Historic Courthouse, Clarksville, TN. There is also a 1-mile “fun run-walk” that will begin and end at Clarksville First Baptist Church.

AAA says Oil Plunges, pushes Gasoline Prices to 3 month lows

 

AAATampa, FL – The price of oil dropped for the third consecutive week, pushing retail prices to their lowest level in months. Sunday, the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline fell for the 16th consecutive day. Since last week, the average price fell 4 cents to $3.62, the cheapest price since April.

Oil settled at its lowest price in two months on the NYMEX as U.S. stockpiles increased last week and supply risks eased in Iraq and Libya. The price for a barrel of oil settled at $100.83 Friday, a $3.23 decline from a week ago. «Read the rest of this article»

Liberty Park GrillClarksville, TN – The Liberty Park Grill opens today at 11:00am. The new restaurant serving Liberty Park held a official ribbon-cutting with the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce on Saturday in conjunction with a VIP preview of the new restaurant.

Restaurant manager Robert Bowlby took a few minutes to speak with Clarksville Online before the ceremony. “We’re so proud to be here! Clarksville is such a wonderful place, it’s a wonderful community,” he said.

“My family and I are just now getting to know the area but we like what we seen so far. It has a lot of history, a lot of unique things to do like the free movies in the park, the Downtown Farmers Market, the Roxy Regional Theatre. All very unique and exciting venues for us to discover as a family.”
