Central Civitan Club begins cooking barbecue for tomorrow’s 106th annual Lone Oak Picnic

 

The Civitan ClubCunningham, TN – The 106th annual Lone Oak Picnic begins tomorrow, July 26th, at 10:00am. In preparation for the event, Central Civitan Club members began cooking their pork barbeque Friday night at 6:00pm. In total, they are cooking 4 whole hogs and 30 shoulders. They will also cook around 200 chickens.

“We cook our barbeque the old fashion way on a pit,” stated Charlie Davis. “It’s really the only way to cook good barbeque.” Charlie and his brother Billy Davis will be overseeing the cooking overnight. By 8:00am Saturday morning, the pork barbeque will be done and ready to pull.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Logging his best start in nearly a month, Nashville starter Taylor Jungmann threw six strong innings to propel the first place Sounds (57-50) to a 2-0 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (53-55) at Greer Stadium on Friday night in front of 8,021 fans.

The shutout victory gives Nashville 10 for the year, which is the most in the PCL, and is the team’s first time holding the opposition scoreless since blanking the Round Rock Express on July 4th.

South Nashville defeats Karns to repeat as 12-year old Little League Tennessee State Baseball Champions

 

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – South Nashville blasted three home runs versus Karns, in front of a standing room only crowd July 25th at Griff Schmittou Field, in finals the 12-year old Little League State Baseball Tournament to repeat as state champions with a 4-1 victory.

In didn’t take long for the fans to see the first ball go out of the park, as South Nashville leadoff hitter Barrett Smith blasted the fifth pitch of the game out over the center field fence for the 1-0 lead.

Tennessee defeats West Virginia 12-2 in Southeast Regional

 

Little League SoftballWarner Robbins, GA – The Clarksville National 11-12 team representing Tennessee, defeated West Virginia 12-2 at the Little League Southeast Regional Softball Tournament in Warner Robbins Georgia.

This was their first game in the tournament.

West Virginia came out and scored in the first inning on a Tennessee error.

Madison Haught hit a double in the second to score Madison Rios to tie it up.

Clarksville Gas and Water reports West Concord Drive Water Outage

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has turned off water service on a section of West Concord Drive near the Fort Campbell Boulevard intersection to repair a water valve. The work is anticipated to be finished by approximately 12:30pm.

The road will be open to traffic.
