Nashville SoundsEl Paso, TX – The Nashville Sounds (68-57) edged the El Paso Chihuahuas Thursday night at Southwest University Park to win by a final 4-2 margin.

Nashville got on the board first courtesy of a Matt Clark, 3-for-4, solo home run in the second inning. The first baseman has lifted four homers over the last three games.

Clark’s streak of three consecutive games with a dinger is the longest by a Sound this season. He has left the yard nine times since joining the Sounds on July 4th.

Clarksville Montgomery County area TDOT Maintenance Work starting August 15th, 2014

 

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports that on Friday August 15th through Wednesday August 20th, from 9:00am-3:00pm, (excluding weekend), there will be periodic lane closures (rolling roadblocks) on I-24 eastbound and westbound, from MM 0 (Tennessee-Kentucky state line) to MM 32 MM (Cheatham-Davidson county line), in order to spray guardrails for vegetation control.

This will be a moving operation.

Austin Peay State University Football to scrimmage Saturday afternoon at Clarksville Academy

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – With new Governors Stadium completion still days away, Austin Peay State University’s football team will scrimmage for the first time, 3:00pm, Saturday, at the Clarksville Academy Sports Complex.

The 70-play-plus scrimmage will culminate the Governors first two practice weeks, including a week-plus of contact work. Clarksville Academy Sports Complex is located on Highway 48/13.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office hosting fundraiser for employee battling cancer

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOMontgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a fundraiser for Sgt. Hope Seay, who is currently battling cancer.

“Sgt. Seay is a part of our MCSO family, and like any family would, we do whatever we can to get them through trying times,” said Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson. “I can only ask for the public to join us by supporting our effort to raise money for Hope as she battles this illness.”

Clarksville’s Tilted Kilt donates over $4,400 to the Folds of Honor Foundation

 

Clarksville's Tilted KiltClarksville, TN –  Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery, with support from the Nashville Chive Chapter, recently raised $4,476 for the Folds Of Honor Foundation.

The “Nashville Chive Unofficial Meetup”, presented by Budweiser of Clarksville, was held at Tilted Kilt on May 17th and included a silent auction, limited edition t-shirt sales, drink and menu specials and more with proceeds going to Folds of Honor.

In addition to Budweiser, additional sponsors for the Chive Meetup included SSF Submission Academy, Touchgolf Products, The Joe Padula Show, and Clarksville Online.

Clarksville Police Department has nine officers graduate Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Friday, August 1st, 2014, nine Officers from the Clarksville Police Department graduated from 10 weeks of training at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA).

Officer Jan Salcedo won the Physical Training Award. We want to congratulate all these Officers on successfully graduating the academy and welcome them into 14 weeks of Field Training.

APSU Lady Govs Volleyball picked fourth in OVC Preseason Poll

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUBrentwood, TN – Senior outside hitter Jada Stotts was named to the preseason team and Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team was picked fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference’s preseason poll, Wednesday.

Stotts, of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, was named to the league’s preseason team for the second consecutive year.
