Fall Sports Fan Day is a free public event open that gives fans of all ages a chance to meet players and coaches from Governors football, volleyball, as well as the men and women’s cross-country teams.

Adding to the festivities, this year’s event will coincide with the Lady Govs soccer home opener that day.

In addition to meeting the players and coaches, fans can register to win one of four special edition camouflage game day jerseys. The Govs new jerseys will be on display at the event.

Austin Peay’s football team will be preparing for its season-opening game at Memphis, August 30th. The Govs will play its highly-anticipated first home game in the renovated Governors Stadium two weeks later, September 13th, when it hosts Southern Conference preseason favorite Chattanooga.

The Lady Govs soccer team will be playing its second regular-season match, two days after opening the season at Evansville. Austin Peay was picked to finish fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference’s preseason poll after reaching the conference tournament semifinals last season. Forward Gina Gabbro returns after earning OVC All-Newcomer Team recognition in 2013.

Lady Govs volleyball opens its regular season the following weekend when it travels to the Clemson Invitational, August 20th-30th. APSU was picked fourth in the league’s preseason poll with senior outside hitter Jada Stotts earning a preseason All-OVC nod for the second consecutive year.

In addition, redshirt sophomore outside hitter Sammie Ebright returns after winning OVC All-Freshman Team honors last season.

The Govs and Lady Govs cross-country teams also will be a week away from their season openers – the Belmont Opener, August 29th. Both teams also will host a home meet, September 19th, at the Family Life Center Cross-Country Course.
