LBL to hold Nature’s Most Extreme Weekend at Nature Station August 30th

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes hosts Nature’s Most Extreme Weekend at Nature Station on Saturday, August 30th through Monday, September 1st.

The public is invited to visit with Smokey Bear, take a canoe trip, cheer on the turtles at Turtle Talladega, try a fun scavenger hunt, and experience “extreme” animals up-close!

Weekend Schedule

Saturday, August 30th

Smokey Bear (appearances throughout the day)

  • 11:00am — Gross Up Close: Vultures, Owls Pellets, and More
  • 1:00pm — Turtle Talladega
  • 1:30pm — Slithering Snake Craft
  • 3:30pm — Kentucky’s Most Venomous
  • 5:30-8:00pm —  Sunset Canoe Trip (Reservation & fee required. Call 270.924.2020)

Sunday, August 31st

  • 11:00am — Of Monsters and Mini’s:  Our Biggest and Smallest Animals
  • 1:00pm — Make Your Own Extreme Animal Craft
  • 1:30pm — Eagle Extreme
  • 3:00pm — Hummingbird Heroics
  • 5:30-8:00pm — Sunset Canoe Trip

Monday, September 1st

  • 11:00am — Animal X-Men
  • 1:00pm — A Serious Case of the Uglies:  Opossum, Vulture, & Alligator Snapper
  • 3:00pm — Pee Wee Predators

Nature Station interpreter, Julie Watson explains, “We’ll explore the grossest, biggest, smallest, ugliest, and most venomous of what nature has to offer with our extreme programs, many featuring live animals! If you’ve got an extreme kid or are an extreme person yourself, don’t miss Nature’s Most Extreme Weekend!”
