Girl Scouts Prepare for Another Year of Fun

Girl Scouts of Middle TennesseeNashville, TN – For more than a century, Girl Scouts has been filling a vital community need by providing a place where girls can truly be girls.

Through Girl Scouts, girls (grades K-12) can’t wait for the fun, adventure and new experiences that will come.

In Girl Scouts, girls participate in innovative programming in an all-girl environment. They help their communities, enjoy the outdoors and participate in programs that focus on financial literacy, healthy living, leadership, science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM).

Results of a summer 2014 pulse poll conducted with over 3,500 volunteer and  parents of Girl Scouts in the K-5 age range show positive effects on members of all ages.

Ninety-seven percent of parents agree that Girl Scouts has been a positive activity for their daughter, that she has had fun and exciting new experiences (95 percent), and that she has learned or tried something new (96 percent).

The data also shows that it’s not just girls who benefit: 94 percent of volunteers have made new friends, two-thirds believe their volunteer experience has helped them professionally and ninety-five percent of Girl Scout volunteers are happy knowing they are making girls’ lives better.

“The Girl Scout experience would not be complete without the help of our wonderful volunteers,” said Director of Membership Rachel Moen. “Volunteer are the bread and butter of our organization and they make sure that the Girl Scout experience is nothing but enjoyable for the girls.”

Girl Scout troops are currently forming throughout Middle Tennessee. To sign your daughter up as a Girl Scout or yourself as a volunteer visit www.gsmidtn.org or call 615-383-0490.
