Austin Peay (1-5-0) sees its losing streak extended to four matches, its longest since a five-match losing streak spanning September 11th-25th, 2009.

The first half was contested predominantly in the middle of the park, with neither side stringing together consistent pressure in the attacking third. Middle Tennessee’s Peyton McCollum put an early shot on net, in the 14th minute, but was thwarted by Austin Peay junior Nikki Filippone. Austin Peay junior Courtney Sheppard took a pair of shots in the 15th and 23rd minutes, but neither were put on frame.

Austin Peay successfully held the Blue Raiders at bay for most of the first half, but a dangerous corner kick from Amalie Anderdal in the half’s final minute got loose in the box. Emily Jorgenson found the ball in the ensuing scrum and knocked it past Filippone just before the horn sounded.

The Lady Govs scoreless streak reached four matches, equaling a program-worst set twice in 2009. Austin Peay’s last goal was scored late in the Chattanooga match August 24th, spanning a stretch of 368:38.

Austin Peay would put two shots on goal, both in the second half, but neither sophomore Gina Fabbro in the 59th minute nor her sister, freshman Sophia Fabbro, in the 68th were able to slide an attempt past Kelsey Brouwer in net.

The Blue Raiders would add an insurance goal in the 81st minute thanks to a Kelsey Roberts goal, who headed in a cross from Tori Hawkins for the final tally.

Filippone took the loss, making one save. Sophomore Katie Emig made two stops while also allowing one goal after entering the match following halftime.

Austin Peay returns to action and to Morgan Brothers Field, Friday, when the Lady Govs host Ole Miss. First kick is scheduled for 7:00pm.
