With five Lady Govs shooting sub-80 scores for the second straight round, APSU shot a final-round 309 for a 936 total. But that final round could not lift the Lady Govs from an eighth-place tie.

“Jessica played well today—she had just a good tournament,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “The girls battled today, although it was no the prettiest of rounds. We had lots of up and downs so our short game saved us.

“(Morgan) Kauffman had four birdies today so we can make the birdies. We just have eliminate the doubles.”

APSU's Jessica CatheyCathey finished the tourney in a sixth-place after shooting 76-74-75 for an overall 225. Remarkably, she had just one birdie the entire for the tournament, which speaks to the consistency of her game Monday and Tuesday.

“Jessica played great all week,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “But she just could not get a (birdie) putt to drop. She played well with just that one birdie when she usually gets two or three a round.

“I was just proud of the fact she was able to get it up and down when she needed to.”

APSU's Morgan KauffmanKauffman, a sophomore, came back with a 79 after shooting a career-low 71 Monday afternoon. Her 234 left her tied for 34th.  Freshman AnnaMichelle Moore showed steady improvement during the tournament, shooting 81-79-78 for 238.

“I was happy with the way AnnaMichelle played,” Robson said. “She is capable of averaging 76-77, but for her first event, nerves and all, I thought she battled well. I really liked her attitude. She never got down on herself out there.”

Senior Meghan Mueller finished at 240 (86-76-78) while sophomore Amber Bosworth finished with a 244 (87-779-78).

Sophomore Morgan Gardner finished with a 255 (89-84-82) while freshman Sara Beth Struble ended at 260 (87-89-84). Both played as individuals.

Southern Illinois and Murray State tied for first overall with a 901, with the Salukis winning in a playoff to capture the crown.
