Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: Movies in the Park, Zumba, Community clean-up at the Clarksville Greenway, After-school Programming and Twilight Basketball.

Movies in the Park

Season concludes with ‘Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire!’

Movies in the Park, the City’s free, outdoor movie series, concludes Saturday, September 27th, at Liberty Park, located at 1190 Cumberland Drive, Clarksville. ‘Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire,’ rated PG-13, and brought to you by Premier Medical will be shown at approximately 7:00pm (dependent on sunset). Activities begin at 6:00pm and include archery instruction and a kid-friendly variation of the Arena Games with Clarksville Parks and Recreation.

Admission is free. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs, as well as your appetite, since food vendors will be on-site. Arrive early to get a good seat and to participate in our pre-movie activities. Sorry, no pets or smoking allowed. Zumba

Come dance away the pounds with this popular, upbeat class. Enjoy your workout while dancing to great music that will make you forget you are even working out!

Zumba is open to adults, ages 18 and up and is offered at the Burt-Cobb Community Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. The cost is $3.00/class with a Center ID.

Community clean-up at the Clarksville Greenway!

On Saturday, October 4th, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a clean-up at the Clarksville Greenway, located at 1101 Pollard Road, from 8:00am to 10:00am.

Our trails need constant maintenance, but to make it more fun, we schedule volunteer maintenance days throughout the year to help keep them in shape! Anyone interested in participating in the Greenway clean-up can sign up online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com or meet at the Clarksville Greenway on clean-up day.

All clean-up equipment will be provided.

After-school Programming

Kids! Are you looking for something fun to do after school? We offer fun, free after-school programming for children ages 10 and up at two of our community centers! Create crafts, play sports, use the computer lab and more! Center ID is required.

Kleeman Center: Mondays and Wednesdays – 2:30pm to 4:30pm

Burt-Cobb Center: Tuesdays – 4:00pm to 5:00pm

*NEW* Twilight Basketball

The Clarksville Parks and Recreation is excited to announce a new opportunity for basketball enthusiasts ages 18 and older, Twilight Basketball! Twilight Basketball will be held at the Kleeman Community Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, on Friday evenings from 6:00pm to 11:00pm, October 17th through December 29th.

Teams and individuals are encouraged to register now through October 3rd for this 8-week league. Teams will consist of 7 players. Online registration is available at recpro.cityofclarksville.com. Twilight Basketball will end in playoff and championship rounds. During halftime, teams will be motivated by guest speakers.

Cost to play is $350.00 per team of 7 or $60.00 if you sign up as an individual to be placed on a team.
