Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – After a week off, the Austin Peay State University men’s cross country team hits the road again to compete at the JSU Foothills Invitational, hosted by Ohio Valley Conference rival Jacksonville State.

The eight kilometer race will start 10:00am, Saturday, at Oxford Lake and Recreation Center.

In its last meet, the APSU Invitational, the Govs dropped a dual to Murray State, but gained a victory over Bethel.  The Governors were led by sophomores Alex Haycraft (6th, 22:32) and Daniel Hamm (8th, 22:40) on the four-mile course.

Also finishing in APSU’s scoring five were sophomores Kyle Harmon (12th, 23:59), Hunter Guthrie (13th, 24:05) and freshman Mickey Fils (17th 24:30).

The course at Oxford Lake, which will host the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, November 1st, provides a chance at some fast times due to the absence of hilly terrain.  The meet on Saturday will also provide the Govs with the confidence of having seen the course prior to the OVC Championships.

“We had a big week of practice and we have tapered down to prepare for Saturday,” said head coach Doug Molnar.  “This is very flat course, which provides an excellent opportunity for us to set some personal records on.”

Austin Peay will have another week away from competition after this meet, before traveling to compete in the UE Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Evansville.  The eight kilometer race will be held at 11:00am, October 18th, at Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville, Indiana.
