Clarksville, TN – Big John, an 1,800-pound bull, was a source of pride for the Austin Peay State University Department of Agriculture. Students on the department’s beef show team took the animal to several regional shows, where his size and power often impressed the judges.
Last month, the University decided to sell this prize-winning animal, with the hope of earning a few thousand dollars for the growing Department of Agriculture. During a special sale on September 23rd at the APSU Farm, three bidders joined together to buy Big John for $14,500.

Clarksville, TN – It will be a working Sunday for the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team when it opens its 40-day preseason practice slate with a 5:00pm practice at the Dunn Center.
The Lady Govs will regularly take the floor around 4:00pm during each of its 30 practice days during their 40-day window, leading up to its November 14th season opener against Wright State.
Fort Campbell, KY – On Saturday, September 27th, 2014, Campbell Crossing partnered with the Fort Campbell Fire Department to host a community movie night in support of Fire Prevention Week at The Commons at Werner Park.
The event brought together more than 125 Campbell Crossing residents for a special screening of The Lego Movie and an important lesson in fire safety and prevention.
Clarksville, TN – Mayoral candidate and Ward 10 councilman Bill Summers will attend the City Mayoral Debate hosted at Daymar Institute on Monday, October 6th, 2014.
Each mayoral candidate in attendance will have three minutes for an opening statement, followed by five questions with a 2:30 time limit response and three questions with a 1:30 time limit response. All candidates will close with a two-minute closing statements.
Clarksville, TN – The international journal Nursing Clinics of North America is considered one of the top scholarly publications in that field, and the spring issue, known as a clinic, will feature articles by 11 Austin Peay State University School of Nursing faculty members.
The nursing professors were selected to contribute to the publication because Dr. Chita Farrar, APSU professor of nursing, was invited to guest edit the issue.

Miss Greater Nashville, Kiara Young, accepted her new crown from the reigning Miss Tennessee USA, Kristy Landers Niedenfuer of Nashville. Niedenfuer also placed in the top 20 at the Miss USA pageant this past June in Baton Rouge.
