According to the latest information, at least 47 total beds are available at Buffalo Valley, the Salvation Army Shelter, and through the Room in the Inn program at local churches which is administered through the Community Action Agency.

“We have established partnerships with multiple organizations to provide shelter to men, women and families who are homeless. These partners understand and are well-trained to identify individual needs. They offer a warm, safe place to get out of the elements and provide other assistance to help people find jobs and longer-lasting housing options,” said Mayor McMillan. “We are very appreciative of the work they do day in and day out to help some of the most vulnerable people in our City.”

In addition to a place in the existing shelters during the next couple of nights, these community partners, along with Manna Café Ministries, have access to other options to deal with extremely dire circumstances for families. Buffalo Valley is opening a temporary warming shelter today at 719 Central Avenue; call 931.645.9038 (daytime) or 931.206.7608 (after hours) for information.

The Mayor has also asked the Clarksville Police Department to assist by making sure that anyone they see who may need assistance knows where to find it.

“I am also encouraging anyone who is homeless and needs assistance to contact the Old Fire House Day Shelter, located at 1498 Golf Club Lane. The staff there can help identify all the existing programs that can offer help for a myriad of situations,” said Mayor McMillan.
