Clarksville High School WildcatsServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Teal Young hit one-of-two free throws after being fouled as the final buzzer sounded, Tuesday, November 25th at William Workman Gymnasium, to lift Clarksville High School’s boys basketball team past Gallatin High School, 49-48.

Clarksville High (3-3) had led 48-44, with 43 second left following a running floater by Evan Cooper, but Gallatin cut the lead to two points on two free throws by DeDarius Redding, with 33 seconds left.

After the free throws the Wildcats tried to bring the ball up the floor, but Gallatin’s Devonte Williams stole the ball and took it back for a layup, tying the score 48-48 with 21 seconds left.

After a timeout by Gallatin (3-3), Clarksville High brought the ball up and sat up for the final shot attempt.

With the final seconds ticking off, Young found himself with the ball out on the left wing where he found a lane in between the Green Wave defense and the baseline.

Young would drive down the baseline while trying to get a shot off, but collided with a couple of Gallatin players just inside the paint with all three players hitting the floor as the final buzzer sounded and the lead referee along the baseline blowing his whistle.

The referee called Gallatin for a block and sending Young to the line with a chance to win the game, with zeroes on the clock.

Young would miss the first free throw, with Gallatin calling a timeout to try to ice him for the second free throw and hopefully get into overtime.

But following the timeout, Young stepped up and hit nothing but net on his final free throw to seal the win for the Wildcats.

Young would finish with 12 points, the only Clarksville High player to break into double figures on the night.

In the first half both teams went back-and-fourth in the first quarter with Clarksville High holding a one-point advantage over Gallatin after the first eight minutes of play, 14-13.

The second quarter would see the Wildcats start to take control, as they scored the first nine points of the period to build a 10-point advantage, 23-13, with 3:45 left in the opening half, before taking a 27-18 lead into intermission.

As the two teams started the second half, Clarksville High would build its biggest lead of the game, 14 points 34-20 with 5:41, following a three-point field goal from Young.

But the Wildcats offense would go stone cold over the next five minutes, with Gallatin going on an 11-0 run, to see the lead cut down to three points before taking a 36-31 advantage into the final quarter.

Gallatin would score the first five points of the fourth quarter to tie the game for the first time since midway through the opening quarter, 36-36.

The two teams would trade a couple of baskets over the next minute before CHS would take a 39-38 lead following a free throw from JJ Jones, with 5:35 left in the game.

Gallatin would score six straight points to build its biggest lead of the game, 44-39, with 3:08 left.

But Clarksville High would answer right back with a 9-0 run to lead by four points, 48-44, before a final Gallatin tying rally and Young’s heroics.
