Clarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.
This weeks highlights include: Water Fitness Classes, Queen City Road Race T-shirt contest for kids and Christmas on the Cumberland.
Water Fitness Classes Available
Tired of your usual workout? The Indoor Aquatic Center offers a variety of water fitness classes for a variety of ages and skill levels! Basic Water Aerobics is held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:00pm. Deep Water Aerobics is held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00pm. Silver Splash, for those 50 years and older, is held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00am Maternity Aerobics, for expectant mothers, is held Mondays and Fridays at 5:00pm.
All classes are ongoing through the end of the Indoor season (May 9th). Cost per class is $2.00 with a pool pass, or $4.00 without a pass. Year-Round and Indoor pool passes are currently on sale. Passes can be purchased at the Parks and Recreation Main Office as well as at the Indoor Aquatic Center. Visit www.cityofclarksville.com/aquatics for pool pass options.
Queen City Road Race T-shirt contest for kids
Calling all budding artists in grades 1st through 5th: Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Queen City Road Race T-shirt design contest is back and the best drawing will be featured on the official 2015 Queen City Road Race T-shirt!
First prize: An official Queen City Road Race T-shirt featuring your design, framed poster of your drawing, $100 and a Subway party for your art class, art supplies and certificate.
Finalists (3): Subway party for your art class, art supplies and certificate.
Semi-finalists (2 per participating school): Art supplies and certificate.

- Your drawing must be submitted by January 9th — so get going.
- Your drawing may be done using any medium, although there is a 5 color use maximum.
- Drawing must be on 8 ½ x 11 paper or canvas; no construction paper, please.
Christmas on the Cumberland and Free Activities
Christmas on the Cumberland, the City’s popular lighted, walk-through event is now open at McGregor Park! Christmas on the Cumberland is open nightly from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, Sunday through Thursday and 5:00pm to 11:00pm, Fridays and Saturdays through January 3rd, 2015. Admission to the event is free.
Don’t miss upcoming free, family friendly activities taking place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the McGregor Park Museum:
