Clarksville, TN – A 12-2 run, starting near the end of the first quarter, began a dominating performance by the Clarksville High School girls basketball team, Friday, December 12th at the William Workman Gymnasium, as they overwhelmed the Northwest High School Lady Vikings in a 65-31 District 10-AAA victory.
The Lady Wildcats (5-8, 3-1 District 10-AAA) only held a one-point advantage, 9-8, as they neared the final minute of the opening quarter; but a bucket by Ellie Treanton – with 1:10 left in the period – started a run that pushed the Clarksville High lead out to 21-10, with 6:18 left in the first half.

Northwest (2-11, 0-4 District 10-AAA) cut the CHS lead back to nine points a couple of times after the CHS run – including for a final time at 23-14 with 4:13 left in the second quarter, before the Lady Wildcats closed out the first half by outscoring Northwest 13-4 to hold a 36-18 advantage heading into intermission.
As the two teams opened the second half, Clarksville High’s offense really hit high gear with the Lady Wildcats scoring the first 16 points of the period – including back-to-back 3s by DeeDee Carter and Summer Morales-Torres to end the run with CHS holding a 52-18 advantage.
Clarksville High would hit five shots from behind the three-point arc in the game, while the Lady Vikings failed to hit any of their three-point attempts in the contest.
Northwest would finally get on the board with a bucket by Taylor Senseney at the 3:13 mark, but the Lady Vikings wouldn’t get any closer than 32 points in the period.
Senseney was the lone Northwest player to break into double figures, finishing with 11 points.
Most of the fourth quarter was played with a running clock — under the 35-point mercy rule – and with both teams empting their benches, with both teams scoring seven points each and Clarksville High coming away with a 34-point victory, 65-31.
Northwest is now off until after Christmas, while Clarksville High has one final pre-Christmas contest at 4:00pm, on December 20th at home versus Fort Campbell High School.
