The Governors are coming off a disappointing 68-59 home defeat Saturday night to Lipscomb in a contest where they shot a season-low 33.3 percent (16 of 48) from the floor.

It was the fourth time in nine games where APSU shot less than 40 percent. It was the seventh time this season APSU scored less than 70 points—the Govs have combined for just 108 points in the last two games.

APSU’s two leading scorers, Chris Horton (11 ppg) and Chris Freeman (11 ppg) combined for just 12 points against Lipscomb. Senior guard Ed Dyson was the only starter to provide an offensive spark with a career-high 21 points, including four three pointers.

Troy comes in amidst a three-game winning streak, defeating Fort Valley State last Thursday, 80-63, and has shot no worse than 47 percent from the floor in the last three games, including a 59.2 percent effort in a win against Central Arkansas.

Guard Musa Abdul-Aleem is one of four Trojans averaging in double figures, averaging a team-leading 15 points per game. He is just ahead of freshman guard Wesley Person (14.9 ppg), who is the son of the former NBA player of the same name.

Third-team preseason All-Sun Belt pick Kevin Thomas enters the game as the Sun Belt’s leading rebounder, averaging 8.4 rebounds per contest.

The matchup between the Trojans and Governors is just the second in school history. Austin Peay holds a 1-0 advantage after it defeated Troy, 80-53, in Clarksville during the 1977 season.
