Rossview High School HawksServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – After winning their games on the first day of the Rossview Christmas Classic, the Dyer County Lady Choctaws and the MLK Lady Royals opened day two Tuesday morning with a close game that wasn’t decided until the last three minutes. The Lady Choctaws dethroned the Lady Royals, 64-59 with some clutch plays and free throw shooting.

Both teams exchanged the lead with runs in a tight, physical game. The Lady Royals went into the fourth quarter with a one-point, 44-43, lead. Midway through the quarter, Jordan Majors was fouled while scoring after an offensive rebound, and converted the three-point play to keep the Lady Royals ahead 52-51.

A minute later Lady Choctaw Haley Hicks made a 3-pointer and followed it up with a steal and a lay-up to give her team the lead. Hicks five points was the beginning of an 11-2 run that put the Lady Choctaw ahead 60-53 with just over a minute remaining, their largest lead of the game.

A turnover gave the Lady Choctaw back-to-back buckets and made it a three-point game with 40 seconds on the clock. But four straight points by Sara Owen and a key rebound by MaKayla Enochs sealed the win by the Lady Choctaw.

Hicks and Olivia Crane both scored 19 points. Hicks made three of the Lady Choctaws five total 3-pointers. Owen scored 10 points and Enochs had eight to go with her nine rebounds.

After shooting just 5-of-9 free throws in the first half, the Lady Choctaw shot 12-of-14 in the second half, including 8-of-9 in the fourth quarter.

Majors led all scorers with 20 points. She also grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double and made three blocks. Majors was one of seven Lady Royals scorers. Molly Kafuder scored 13. Both Eirene Franco and Breana Smith added eight points.

The win made the Lady Choctaws 2-0 in the Rossview Christmas Classic and they remain undefeated (13-0) overall. The Lady Royals finish the Classic 1-1 and fall to 8-4.
