Clarksville Chamber of Commerce announces Fort Campbell Community Listening Session set for January 20th, 2015

Clarksville Area Chamber of CommerceClarksville, TN – Fort Campbell, in cooperation with local communities, will host a listening session for concerned citizens regarding the recent findings associated with the Supplemental Programmatic Environmental Assessment (SPEA) on January 20th, 2015 from 6:00pm-8:30pm at the Fort Campbell Family Resource Center (FRC), 1501 William C. Lee Road.

The Chamber is asking members of the Clarksville community to attend this listening session and show your support of our neighbors at Fort Campbell. Attendees can enter at Gate One as it will have unrestricted access, with a valid photo identification card, beginning at 4:00pm.

Those attending will be allowed entrance to the FRC building beginning at 4:30pm. All bags are subject to inspection.

The listening session will allow the communities to voice their views to representatives from the Department of the Army regarding the potential personnel reduction and its possible impact. To meet shrinking operating budgets, the Army is projecting to reduce personnel strength from 490,000 to 450,000, and possibly as low as 420,000. These personnel reductions would affect both military and civilian positions.

It is of the utmost importance that our community comes out on January 20th to show their support of our men and women in uniform, as well as the civilians who work on post. The more people we have attending that evening will help to reinforce how these cuts to our military will be devastating to our region and also to our national security.

Due to our unique situation with Fort Campbell residing between two states, we are working with our friends in Kentucky to show a unified community to the delegates from Washington, D.C.
