City of Clarksville announces Charlie Gentry to become Chief of Administration

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan is proud to announce the hiring of Charlie Gentry of Clarksville as the City of Clarksville’s Chief of Administration.

“I am very excited that Charlie has accepted the City’s offer to take on this role. He is a native Clarksvillian with experience in city government and in running successful businesses. He already has extensive relationships in the community and understands the issues of our growing city,” said Mayor McMillan. “I’m so glad that Charlie will be joining the team.”

Mr. Gentry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Austin Peay State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University.

He has owned, developed and operated multiple businesses in Clarksville.

He is also very familiar with City government having worked for the Clarksville Gas & Water Department for more than ten years including his tenure as the Public Utilities Senior Director. Mr. Gentry counts his family, his wife Lucy and their three grown children, as his greatest achievement.

“I believe that good government begins with good people,” said Mr. Gentry in explaining his interest in becoming the Chief of Administration. “Mayor McMillan has already made fundamental changes that allow the City to provide services at a much lower cost for all citizens and has made significant investments in the City’s workforce. I also believe in her commitment to cooperate with others in making Clarksville the best city in which to live, work, and raise our families. I am excited and honored to be a part of her administration.”

The search for the new Chief of Administration was open to all current City employees as well as the general public. Mr. Gentry will begin his new duties on January 1st, 2015.
