Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for January 14th through January 18th, 2015

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Night Walk, Winter Trees, Winter Weeds, Bird Hike, and Nature Hike at Port Royal.

Wednesday, January 14th

Night Walk

Time: 5:00pm – 6:00pm
Ages: 3 – adult

Enjoy the natural area after dark on this short, easy walk.

Reservations By 4:30pm January 12th.

Thursday, January 15th

Winter Trees

Time: 10:00am – 11:00am
Ages: 6- adult

Learn the trees of the Natural Area.

Reservations By 4:30pm January 13th.
Program Leader: Adam Neblett, Ranger


 

Winter Weeds

Time: 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Ages: Adult

We might not have wildflowers, but we can learn about the remnants of last year’s flowers.

Saturday, January 17th

Bird Hike

Time: 9:00am – 10:30am

Ages: Adult

Bring binoculars and learn the birds that call the Natural Area home for the winter.

Sunday, January 18th

Nature Hike at Port Royal

Time: 9:30am – 10:30am
Ages: All

Walk through the winter woods on this ½ mile hike. Meet at River Bottom Trail parking lot.

Reservations By 4:30pm January 16th.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.

Dunbar Cave State Park is located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville Tennessee.

Port Royal State Historic Park is located at 3300 Old Clarksville Springfield Road, Adams, Tennessee.
