Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for February 8th through February 12th, 2015

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Port Royal Trail of Tears, Woods in Winter, Port Royal History Walk, Winter Hike at Port Royal, and Friends of Dunbar Cave Meeting.

Sunday, February 8th

Port Royal Trail of Tears

Time: 3:00pm – 4:00pm
Ages: 7 – adult

Join us to learn about Port Royal Historic Area’s section of the Trail of Tears. Meet at River Bottom Trail parking lot.

Reservations By: 4:30pm, February 6th.

Tuesday, February 10th

Woods in Winter

Time: 9:30am – 11:00am
Ages: Adults

Enjoy a walk through the woods as you learn about the plants and animals of winter.

Reservations By: 4:30pm, February 8th.
Program Leader: Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist

Wednesday, February 11th

Port Royal History Walk

Time: 9:00am – 10:00am
Ages: 8 to adult

Join us for a walk around Port Royal Historic Area. Meet at the upper parking lot (beside the Masonic Lodge).

Reservations By: 4:30pm, February 9th.

Winter Hike at Port Royal

Time: 10:00am – 11:00am
Ages: All

Walk through the winter woods on this ½ mile hike. Meet at River Bottom Trail parking lot.

Thursday, February 12th

Friends of Dunbar Cave Meeting – Prairie Restoration

Time: 6:00pm
Ages: 15 and up, non-members welcome.

Dr. Dwayne Estes will talk about prairie restoration, followed by the Friends business meeting. Sundquist Science Building, Austin Peay State University, Room D125.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.

Dunbar Cave State Park is located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville Tennessee.

Port Royal State Historic Park is located at 3300 Old Clarksville Springfield Road, Adams, Tennessee.
