Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for February 12th through February 15th, 2015

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Friends of Dunbar Cave Meeting, Bird Hike, Winter Trees and Sunset Hike.

Thursday, February 12th

Friends of Dunbar Cave Meeting

Time: 6:00pm
Ages: Ages 15 and up, non-members welcome.

Prairie Restoration
Dr. Dwayne Estes will talk about prairie restoration, followed by the Friends business meeting. Sundquist Science Building, Austin Peay State University, Room D125.

Friday, February 13th

Bird Hike

Time: 8:30am – 10:00am
Ages: Adult

Bring binoculars and learn the birds that call the Natural Area home for the winter.

Reservations by 4:30pm, February 11th.
Program Leader: Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist


Winter Trees

Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm
Ages: 6- adult

Learn the trees of the Natural Area.

Reservations by 4:30pm, February 11th.
Program Leader: Adam Neblett, Ranger

Saturday, February 14th

Sunset Hike

Time: 4:30pm – 5:45pm
Ages: All Ages

Take a hike and watch the sunset on Valentine’s Day!

Sunday, February 15th

National Wild Turkey Federation Convention and Sport Show

Join us at the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation table at Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville for this event. Sunday hours 9:00am-4:00pm, you can also go Friday 9:00am-7:00pm or Saturday 8:30am – 6:00pm. Current members of NWTF, military with ID and children 10 and under free. Non-members $20.00, $10.00 ages 11-17.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.

Dunbar Cave State Park is located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville Tennessee.

Port Royal State Historic Park is located at 3300 Old Clarksville Springfield Road, Adams, Tennessee.
