Clarksville – Montgomery County Area now under Winter Storm Warning for Snow

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning for snow, which is in effect until 6:00pm CST Monday for the Clarksville-Montgomery County area as well as Middle Tennessee.

The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected. Wind chill advisory continues until 9:00am.

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet, and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves.

Timing…Below zero wind chills sunday morning…snow accumulations Sunday night through Monday evening.

Accumulations…3 to 5 inches of snow…with locally higher amounts possible.

Wind Chill Values…From zero to 10 below zero.

Main Impact…Very cold wind chills this morning may lead to frostbite on unprotected skin. Accumulating snow tonight into Monday evening will like may cause hazardous travel conditions across the area. Chances for light snow may linger into Tuesday, especially for areas near the Cumberland Plateau.

Other Impacts…There is a slight chance for sleet and/or freezing rain to mix in with the snow mainly south of Interstate 40.
