Tennessee Highway Patrol announces 2014 Trooper and Dispatcher of the Year; District of the Year

 

Tennessee Highway Patrol - THPNashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons and Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Colonel Tracy Trott presented Trooper Michael Sullivan and Dispatcher Andrew Lawson with the 2014 Trooper and Dispatcher of the Year award, respectively, at a special ceremony held Wednesday evening in Murfreesboro. Also, the THP Fall Branch District was awarded the 2014 District of the Year.

The University of Tennessee head football coach Butch Jones served as the keynote speaker. Coach Jones is the son of a long-time police chief and nephew to a Michigan State Police Commander.

Fort Campbell MWR St. Paddy’s Day Trail Ride

 

Fort Campbell's Morale, Welfare and Recreation - MWRFort Campbell, KY – Join MWR for a lucky St. Paddy’s Day Trial Ride through the scenic trails of Fort Campbell Outdoor Recreation.

As you ride watch the trees for pots of gold. Pick the right pot of gold and win a goody basket. Prize drawings will be held following each ride. For age 8 and over.

The rides will be held at the Fort Campbell Riding Stables on March 14th and 15th. Rides leave at 9:00am, 10:30am, 1:00pm and 2:30pm each day.

In her monetary policy testimony, Fed Chair Janet Yellen signaled that the Fed will begin to consider raising short-term interest rates on a meeting-by-meeting basis. Before then, the Fed will change its forward guidance (currently, the language suggests that the Fed can be “patient” in deciding when to raise rates).

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs come in fifth at OVC Indoor Championships

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUCharleston, IL – The Ohio Valley Conference is a tough conference. That was evident in the results of Saturday’s OVC Championships.

Austin Peay State University finished fifth out of the 10 schools, scoring 82 points to place just behind Eastern Kentucky, which had 88. Eastern Illinois (132.5 points) took home the title, followed by Tennessee State (101) and Southeast Missouri (98.5).

Terry Boykin Awards First Edith L Kidd Memorial Community Service Awards

 

Playmaker Basketball AcademyClarksville, TN – Terry Boykin, founder of the Playmaker Basketball Academy, awarded the first ever Edith L. Kidd Memorial Community Service Awards during his inaugural Playmakers Basketball Academy TN/KY Middle School All-Star games Saturday afternoon at Clarksville High School.

The service awards were given to Caden McKinnis from Auburn Middle School, Jacob Naylor from Russellville Middle School and Blayke Bingham from Olmstead Middle School.

Red Teams Sweep Inaugural Playmaker Basketball Academy Middle School All-Star Game

 

Playmaker Basketball AcademyClarksville, TN – The bleachers in William Workman Gymnasium at Clarksville High School were full Saturday afternoon as 48 of the best eighth grade student athletes from six different counties in Tennessee and Kentucky took the court for the first ever Playmakers Basketball Academy TN/KY Middle School All-Star games.

The multitude of fans were not disappointed as the players, divided into girls and boys blue and red teams, competed with tremendous effort. The games were filled with great  assists, sharp shooting, aggressive rebounding and floor-diving battles for possession.
