Fort Campbell releases Winter Storm information

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – A winter storm is expected to hit Fort Campbell beginning Wednesday and continuing for the remainder of the week. Please take the necessary steps to provide for the safety and welfare of yourself and your Family.

After the precipitation has stopped around Thursday morning at 6:00am, temperatures are expected to remain between 2 to 34 degrees for the next 48 hours.

Expect dangerous road conditions during this period.

Wednesday – March 4th

Rain will transition to sleet then snow. With exception of mission essential personnel for inclement weather operations, early release of workforce expected at 1:00pm Fort Campbell schools will be on the Tuesday school schedule.

Commissary and Post Exchange (PX) food court will close at 1300; PX retail sales will close at 1400. The Kentucky Express Shoppette will remain open until 8:00pm – weather dependent.

Thursday – March 5th

Decision for Soldier activities will be made at 1600 on Wednesday March 4th. Schools, Post Exchange, Shoppettes, and the Commissary will be closed. The Kentucky Express Shoppette will be open 11:00am until 8:00pm – weather dependent.

Decisions for Friday, March 6th will be made at 1200 on Thursday, March 5th.

Due to the impending hazardous weather and to facilitate snow removal, the Provost Marshal and Chief of Police have prohibited parking on the streets, including shoulders of the road, effective at noon, Wednesday, March 4th, until further notice. Violators will be towed immediately without further notice and at the owner’s expense. If you must, pull your vehicles onto your driveway or into your yard.

Families in post housing should take the necessary precautions to prevent indoor plumbing from bursting by letting faucets drip and opening cabinet doors for heat flow.

Finally, please ensure the walkway and driveway around your home is kept ice free by salting early, prior to the ice and snow. Snow and ice removal in the housing areas, with some exceptions made to the main thoroughfares, is not provided. This is an individual responsibility.
