Clarksville – Montgomery County under Flood Watch until Saturday morning

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch for Clarksville-Montgomery County as well as portions of Middle Tennessee until 5:00am Saturday morning, March 14th.

Recent episodes of snow and rain have left behind a saturated ground over much, if not all, of Middle Tennessee. As several more rounds of showers develop across the mid state over the next few days, many places will see between one and two more inches of rainfall.

The Cumberland River at Clarksville is currently at 35.68 feet as of 5:30pm, Thursday, March 12th. Flood stage is 46 feet.

This additional rainfall may cause flooding in typical areas over the western half of the mid state. Low water crossings and low lying areas will be the most flood prone. Rises on area lakes, rivers and creeks, can also be expected as well as localized ponding of water on roadways.

Flood watch remains in effect from Friday morning, March 13th through Saturday morning, March 14th.

Additional rainfall on top of saturated soils will increase the risk for flooding along and west of interstate 65.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Counties Affected

Cheatham County, Davidson County, Dickson County, Giles County, Hickman County, Houston County, Humphreys County, Lawrence County, Lewis County, Marshall County, Maury County, Montgomery County, Perry County, Robertson County, Stewart County, Sumner County, Wayne County, and Williamson County.
