Charleston, IL – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team continues to search for its first Ohio Valley Conference win of the season after dropping a 5-2 decision to Eastern Illinois, Friday, at Darling Courts.
In doubles action, the senior pairing of Ornella Di Salvo and Vanessa Tavares dropped an 8-4 decision at the No. 1 position. The Panthers were able to claim the doubles point when the duo of senior Jovana Karac and sophomore Hannah Tatlock lost an 8-6 match at No. 2.
In singles play, the Lady Govs were led by Di Salvo, who cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Kelly Iden at the No. 1 slot. Austin Peay was able to pick up a second point when sophomore Isabela Jovanovic fought back to earn a hard-fought 3-6, 6-0, 10-4 win at No. 2. In other singles matches, Tavares dropped a 6-4, 7-5 match to Hannah Kimbrough at the No. 5 slot while Karac fell 6-4, 6-3 to Kamile Stadalninkaite at No. 6 .
The Lady Govs return to action with a 10:00am, Saturday contest against OVC rival SIU Edwardsville at the SIUE Tennis Courts.
