Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUGlencoe, AL – Emily Dickinson once said “Fame is a fickle food upon a shifting plate.” Or as Tom Watson once said, “If you want to increase your success rate, double your failure rate.”

Chris Baker found out Tuesday exactly what Dickinson and Watson were talking about.

A day after Baker shattered APSU’s 18-hole record with a 61, things couldn’t have gone any worse for the junior from Franklin, TN.

Struggling through perhaps his worst round as a Governor, Baker shot an 11-over 83 to finish tied for sixth overall with an even par 216.

Meanwhile, fellow junior teammate Austin Kramer, who threw up two sub-par rounds Monday, shot a 6-over 78 to finish at 1-under 215, tying him for fourth. As a result, the Govs shot an overall 311, Tuesday, and slipped from third to fifth in the final standings at 884. Host Jacksonville State won the event with an 851. Western Kentucky finished second 14 strokes back (865).

With both Baker and Kramer faltering, Tuesday, senior Tucker Wallace was the only Govs to step up. The Dickson, TN native shot a final-round 2-over 74. Wallace gained a Top 25 finish, ending in a 23rd-place tie at 225. Meanwhile, freshman Justin Arens came in at 77 while junior Tyler Phillips had an 82.

Sophomore Erik Hedberg, playing as an individual, fashioned a third straight quality round with a 4-over 76, leaving him at 223rd overall and his first Top 20 finish (tied for 18th).
