Austin Peay State University student Amy Duncan’s senior solo exhibition “Words Are Hard” to be held at Trahern Gallery 108

APSU Department of Art - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Local artist Amy Duncan will displaying her show “Words Are Hard,” a series of 100 intricately draw handmade greeting cards, from March 30th-April 3rd at Trahern Gallery 108 on the campus of Austin Peay State University.

An opening reception is free to the public and takes place March 30th from 5:00pm-9:00pm.

Duncan’s exhibition is a glimpse into the humorous and disappointing dating scene and apparent language barrier that divide today’s 20-somethings.

Each of the 100 greeting cards displays an intricate drawing and word combination that often reveal surprising or unexpected twists.

“By focusing my attention to the strange, the awkward and the unnoticed, I believe I have brought awareness that could potentially lead to some change in the way my generation communicates,” says Duncan.

Past exhibitions of Duncan include a solo exhibition in the Marion Street studio spaces in Clarksville and selected work for a collaborative show in Nashville, as well as APSU-affiliated shows.
