Clarksville, TN – Produced by The Downtown Clarksville Association, First Thursday Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour spanning a 5-block radius that combines visual art, live music, engaging events and more in the heart of Downtown Clarksville.
With 10+ venues, bars and businesses participating each month, the First Thursday Art Walk in Clarksville is the ultimate opportunity to savor and support local creative talent.
The participating businesses are listed below as well as a description of the work they will be exhibiting and services they will be offering during the event.
The Downtown Artists Co-op (96 Franklin Street)
The DAC is an association of talented local artists and interested patrons dedicated to promoting the visual arts in the Clarksville/Montgomery County area. Our objectives are to sponsor art exhibitions of work by Co-op members and regional artists, to provide continuing support for the Co-op and its membership through the sale of art work, to encourage arts education with outreach programs and scholarship fundraisers, and to develop membership services which directly support the arts community.
Artist Information
Downtown Artists Co-op (DAC) is proud to announce our 14th Annual Members’ Exhibit, during the month of April. This annual tradition is an exhibit of fine art by all DAC Members and features fine art including Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media, Photography, 3D/Fabric Arts, Jewelry and much more.
The opening reception for the DAC Annual Members Show will be on April 2nd from 5:00pm till 8:00pm. The DAC will be serving up appetizers, punch and wine along with original works of art by our membership. As always, the DAC opening is a central part of Clarksville’s “First Thursday Art Walk”, a wonderful evening of art, music and more in beautiful Historic Downtown Clarksville. First Thursday Art Walk occurs regularly on the first Thursday of each month.
The Members Exhibit is generously sponsored by Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, The Frame Maker (Glen Edgin) and Sango Fine Wines and Spirits.

F & M Bank (50 Franklin Street)
F&M Bank is proud to host “Don’t Lose It, Use It: Recycled Material Art” in the Franklin Room from 6:00pm – 8:00pm during the April First Thursday Art Walk.
Many believe that our society is too relaxed in discarding obsolete, “misused” materials. For decades dedicated environmentalists have encouraged, promoted, and rewarded successful attempts to recycle “no longer useful” materials, thus lowering the amount of waste in the environment.
The three participants in the show are Richard Gildrie, Russell Bales, and Richard Hogan. The natural media include discarded natural and processed wood, rocks from rivers and streams, and old discarded wire, and discarded containers. We hope you enjoy the show and appreciate the attempt to recycle our contemporary society’s creations.
The Roxy Regional Theatre
Peg Harvill Gallery (100 Franklin Street)
For those who enjoy the visual arts, the Peg Harvill Gallery, located just beyond the lobby, hosts twelve shows annually featuring locally and nationally known artisans. Shows generally open the first Thursday of each month for our First Thursday Art Walk.
Artist Information
The Roxy Regional Theatre’s Peg Harvill Gallery will feature the work of local artist Beverly Parker during the April First Thursday Art Walk. This selection of work will be themed “Tuesdays With Morrie”, live on stage March 27th – April 11th, 2015.
Gallery hours during Art Walk will be 5:00pm – 6:30pm due to a performance of “Tuesdays With Morrie”. Additional gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am – 2:00pm.

The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is Tennessee’s second largest general interest museum. It features fine art, history, and children’s exhibits.

The exhibit is part of Clarksville’s First Thursday Art Walk on April 2nd, 2015. An opening reception will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The artwork will remain on display at The Framemaker throughout the month of April during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 10:00am – 5:00pm).
Rina Gonzalez is a graduate of Austin Peay State University (BFA) with concentrations in photography and ceramics. In the summer of 2013, she participated in an assistantship in Tuscany, Italy (La Meridiana International School of Ceramics). Her emphasis involves documenting people through film photography.
Rogate’s Boutique (115 Franklin Street)
Rogate’s Boutique is happy to host Laura Adcock during the April First Thursday Art Walk.
Laura Adcock is a native of Decatur, Alabama. Having lived overseas, in Germany and Japan for 13 years, she has been happily settled in Clarksville for 15 years. Working with paper has always been appealing, so card making and collage were a natural fit.
After studying under Cindy Wunsch and Jenni Horne, mixed media followed. Layering paper, acrylics, vellum, stamps, and found objects created hours of pleasure and added yet another dimension to her creations. Laura took mixed media to the next level by adding texture with eggshells and broken glass. Recently, she has enjoyed creating art to welcome Spring. Laura resides in Clarksville with her husband, Donald, and their pooch, Yoshi.

Hops Road, located on Strawberry Alley in Historic Downtown Clarksville, is proud to join the April First Thursday Art Walk and host artist, Melanie Waddle Dennis.
“I have always been drawn to the arts, whether in design, movement, photography, performance or the written word. Paint chips and fabric swatches were a large part of my first creative endeavors. As a young artist, I was inspired by the various hues and textures of my many collections. As a teenager, my interests turned to dance and drama.”
“I enjoyed performing with various groups including the dance team at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, where I became interested in literature. After returning to Clarksville, my creativity found an outlet in writing as I earned a degree in English from Austin Peay State University in 2000.”
“I enjoy experimenting with the cohesion and repulsion of various colors and materials such as waters, pastes and papers. I take joy in learning new things every day and hope that it reflects in my work as I progress and grow as an artist. Being able to continually pursue new mediums and techniques allows me to evolve and broaden my abilities and talents.”
“I am thankful that my husband Tommy and our daughter Myla allow me to experiment in their environment and also provide me with daily inspiration for my creative efforts. My art serves as a reminder that life is not always to be taken so seriously. Life is short. Enjoy the bugs.”
