Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – After moving off-site a year ago due to the construction at Governors Stadium, Austin Peay State University football team’s annual Red-and-White Spring Game will return to campus this year.

Heralding the end of spring practice, the game is tentatively scheduled to begin at 11:00am, Saturday, April 11th, as the centerpiece of several on- and off-campus events throughout the weekend – a ‘Spring Fling’ for Austin Peay athletics.

“With this being our first Spring Football game at new Governors Stadium, we’re excited to get back in such a great venue,” said Athletics Marketing Director Alaric Klinghard. “It will be a busy day for Austin Peay students, fans and alumni, with everything from football, baseball, softball, soccer and tennis. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to welcome our alumni back to campus to support our spring sports.”

At 6:00pm, Friday, April 10th, the Govs will host a free youth football clinic at Fort Campbell’s Fryar Stadium for all kids eighth-grade and under. After, the Govs will conduct a walk-through under the lights of the same site they played the 2014 Spring Game – their final practice before the 2015 iteration.

On game day, the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free 2015 football schedule poster if they enter on the home side of Governors Stadium.

Due to a lack of depth along the offensive line, the scrimmage is only scheduled to last about 45 plays.

Concessions will be available inside the stadium and afterwards, fans are invited to join the Governors players and staff for a post-game tailgate sponsored by the Governors Club in the Foy Center parking lot. Austin Peay’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) also will be sponsoring a tailgate for the entire student body after the Spring Game, scheduled to begin at 11:00am.

The conclusion of the football game and subsequent tailgate will happen in conjunction with the beginning of a full afternoon of baseball and softball at Austin Peay; Lady Govs softball is scheduled to begin a doubleheader against SIU Edwardsville at noon at Cheryl Holt Field, with the Bat Govs slated to host Belmont at 2:00pm at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The weekend also serves as baseball and softball alumni weekend, with a tailgate slated to begin at 1:00pm in the Foy Center Parking Lot. Fans who present either a program stub from the spring game or a cell phone photo from either the spring game or tailgate will receive free admission to that afternoon’s baseball game.

Austin Peay soccer’s alumni weekend also is that same weekend, and will include a 7-on-7 tournament at Morgan Brothers Field scheduled to begin at 10:00am.

Governors tennis also competes that day against Tennessee Tech at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts, weather permitting, with a scheduled start time of 11:00am.
