Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: Queen City Road Race, Fun with Fido, Yoga in the Park and Warrior Week Concert and Car, Truck, & Bike Show.

37th Annual Queen City Road Race

Prices increase this week!
If you want to cash in on the Early Bird Registration fee for the 37th annual Queen City Road Race, you’d better act fast! The Early Bird Registration deadline is April 17th.

The Early Bird Registration cost for the 5K and 7K races is $20.00 but will increase to $25.00 for those who register April 18th up until Race Day on May 2nd. The cost to participate in the non-competitive One Mile Movement will remain $5.00 until Race Day.

The Queen City Road Race, presented by Cumberland Bank and Trust, will take place on Saturday, May 2nd on the campus of Austin Peay State University. Join us in this Clarksville tradition by visiting www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr to register!

Warrior Week Concert and Car, Truck, & Bike Show

The 5th annual Warrior Week Car, Truck, & Bike Show will be held Saturday, May 9th beginning at 11:00am at Heritage Park. The show is open to public viewing but to enter your car, truck, or bike you must be an Active Duty or retired military, as well as members of the American Legion, DAV, and VFW with an ID card.

Over 30 trophies will be awarded, including an Outstanding Unit Award that will be awarded to the military unit that has the most show entries. Pre-registration is free to those who register by noon on Thursday, May 7th. Onsite registration will take place from 8:00am to 9:00am and the cost will be $10.00 cash per vehicle.

Fun with Fido is Looking for Vendors!

If you are a part of a dog-related business or organization, we are looking for you!

The 2015 Fun with Fido series kicks off May 16th at Heritage Park and is seeking vendors who promote an active lifestyle for the four-legged community.

Vendors must be a dog-related business, non-profit, or organization and will have direct contact with potential customers.

To become a vendor, visit www.cityofclarksville.com/funwithfido to download the vendor application. Applications are due no later than May 5th.

Yoga in the Park

What better way to start your day, than to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Cumberland River, while participating in a free, morning yoga class? The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and the Clarksville area YMCA have partnered once again to host Yoga in the Park every Wednesday and Friday, May 13th through June 19th.

Yoga in the Park is a free class held on the stage behind the “As the River Flows” museum at McGregor Park, on Riverside Drive. Classes will be held from 6:00pm to 7:00am and will be open to all ages.

Each participant must bring their own yoga mat. The participant(s) with the highest attendance at the end of the program will be eligible to receive a gift card!
