Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for April 15th through April 19th, 2015

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Nature Walk at Port Royal, Woods Walk, Night Hike, Bird Hike, and Trail of Tears at Port Royal.

Wednesday, April 15th

Nature Walk at Port Royal

Time: 10:00am – 11:00am
Ages: 3 – adult

We will take the ½ mile River Bottom Trail and see what plants and creatures we can find. Meet at the River Bottom Trail parking lot.

Reservations By: 4:30pm, April 13th.

Thursday, April 16th

Woods Walk

Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Ages: All Ages

We will take the one mile Short Loop Trail and see what plants and creatures we can find.

Friday, April 17th

Birding at Port Royal

Time: 9:00am – 10:30am
Ages: Adults

Bring binoculars and learn the birds that call this area home. Meet at the upper parking lot (beside Visitor Center).

Reservations By: 4:30pm, April 15th.

Night Hike

Time: 7:30pm – 8:30pm
Ages: All Ages

Join us as darkness descends on the park and our nocturnal animals come out.

Saturday, April 18th

Bird Hike

Time: 7:00am – 9:00am
Ages: 8-adult

Cardinals, Blue Jays, Phoebes and more! Bring your binoculars and learn the birds that call the Natural Area home.

Reservations By: 4:30pm, April 16th.

Trail of Tears at Port Royal

Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm
Ages: 8 to adult

Join us for a walk on the Trail of Tears. Meet at the River Bottom Trail parking lot.

Reservations By: 4:30pm, April 16th.

Sunday, April 19th

River bottom Trail at Port Royal

Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm
Ages: 3 – adult

We will take the ½ mile River Bottom Trail and see what plants and creatures we can find. Meet at the River Bottom Trail parking lot.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.

Dunbar Cave State Park is located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville Tennessee.

Port Royal State Historic Park is located at 3300 Old Clarksville Springfield Road, Adams, Tennessee.
