Nashville Sounds lose to Oklahoma City Dodgers 6-5 in extra innings

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – For the second straight night it took extra innings to declare a winner between the Nashville Sounds and Oklahoma City Dodgers at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Unlike Tuesday night, it was the home team that came out on top, 6-5.

The Sounds led much of the game, putting up five early runs on Freddy Garcia. Garcia was thrust into the start  – despite pitching three innings just two nights before  – when Dodgers’ probable starter Carlos Frias was promoted to the MLB squad this morning.

Austin Peay State University Governors Baseball pounds Southern Illinois Salukis 17-6

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University baseball team struck early and struck often against Southern Illinois, Wednesday, pounding the Salukis for a 17-6 win at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The Govs pounded out 19 hits, one off their season high, including eight with two outs and seven with runners in scoring position. Austin Peay accumulated 13 two-out RBI against the Salukis.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Queen City Road Race Early Bird Registration Discount deadline approaches

 

37th Annual Queen City Road RaceClarksville, TN – The 37th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, have you reserved your spot at the finish line? If not, you’d better act quickly to be eligible for the discounted rate of $20.00 for the 5K and 7K races.

The Early Bird discounted registration deadline is April 17th. Registration will be available through race day, however prices increase to $25.00 for the 5K and 7K races. The non-competitive One Mile Movement will remain at a $5.00 registration fee now through race day.

Registration for the Queen City Road Race is simple and may be completed online or in person. Online registration can be completed by visiting www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr and is available onsite at 102 Public Square.

Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires gives Gamers their own area at CDE’s Gig City Gaming Area

 

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – Video game aficionados have a place to unite, unwind and show their gaming skills at this year’s Rivers and Spires Festival.

For the second year, the Festival will be bringing a free, fully interactive gaming area to the underground parking garage located on Franklin Street. Gig City Gaming, presented by CDE Lightband, will feature over 50 titles and will cater to over 30,000 gamers. Tons of gaming will be available for everyone to enjoy on systems including the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Play Station 3 and Play Station 4.

Clarksville Police requests public assistance with Memorial Drive Kanagroo Express Robbery

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Detective Daniel Wimmer is investigating a Robbery that occurred last night, April 14th, 2015 at approximately 10:40pm at the Kangaroo Express on the 1800 block of Memorial Drive.

Bass Pro Shop’s Big Cat Quest Tournament to be held in Clarksville Rescheduled

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore infielder Garrett Copeland, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Copeland hit .474 (9-for-19) last week, collecting three game-winning hits and his season’s first three home runs as the Govs went 3-1 with a midweek win against Middle Tennessee and a series victory at Raymond C. Hand Park against Belmont.
