Nashville Sounds fall to Colorado Springs Sky Sox 4-2

Nashville Sounds Collects Just Six Hits in Second Game Of Series

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville offense had a tough time starting up on Saturday night at First Tennessee Park and fell to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 4-2.

Nashville left nine on base and went just 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

Colorado Springs used a pair of multi-run frames to do the damage. Matt Long collected a run scoring single in the third and Elian Herrera did the same in the fifth.

The Sounds evened it up at one point with runs in the third and fourth. Anthony Aliotti drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored on a Joey Wendle double.

It was the infielder’s 12th RBI of the young season, putting him atop the league standings. Aliotti then ended up knocking in the tying run with a bases loaded single in the fourth.

Kent Matthes tried to get something going with a two-out double in the eighth, but was left stranded. The outfielder was the only Sounds’ player with a multi-hit effort on a night when Nashville had just six hits.

Brad Mills made his second start of the season and his First Tennessee Park debut on Saturday night. The lefty allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits through 5.0 innings of work. Brock Huntzinger continued his solid start to the season, fanning three without allowing a hit through 2.0 frames.

The right-hander moved his ERA to 1.59 through the first four outings of 2015. Eury De La Rosa struck out two of the three batters he faced in the eighth and Kevin Whelan did the same in the ninth.

Drew Gagnon picked up his first win of the year by delivering 5.1 innings of two-run ball. Despite walking five batters, the right-hander gave up just two runs.

The Sounds and Sky Sox are scheduled for a 2:05pm start on Sunday at First Tennessee Park. Right-hander Chris Bassitt will get the nod for Nashville while Colorado Springs will send out Tyler Cravy for the third game of the series.
