Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – A late-inning two-run homer by Christiana Gable backed a three-hit performance by Natalie Ayala, Wednesday at Cheryl Holt Field, as Austin Peay State University’s softball team defeated Eastern Kentucky 3-1 in Game 1 of their Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader before falling in the nightcap, 10-5.

Nashville Sounds drop second game to Oklahoma City Dodgers, 5-2

 

Nashville Pitchers Tie Season-High With 13 Strikeouts

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Sounds ran into some stout pitching on Wednesday night at First Tennessee Park and suffered their second loss of the series to Oklahoma City, 5-2.

The Dodgers came out swinging and jumped on top in the opening frame. Buck Britton ripped a run-scoring triple, Kyle Jensen followed with a sacrifice fly and Oklahoma City had a 2-0 lead before Nashville ever got a chance to hit.

Nashville pushed a run across in the fifth when Jason Pridie led off with a single and Andy Parrino hit him in two batters later.

Mayor’s Fitness Council receives grant from Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation

 

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Mayor’s Fitness Council was recently awarded a $9,500 grant by The Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation to further its Clarkswell movement.

The Mayor’s Fitness Council has established the unique Clarkswell brand to identify Clarksville as a healthier place to work and play. Through this community-wide effort, the MFC created the Clarkswell Workplace initiative designed for employers who seek to improve employee health.

Members of the Mayor’s Fitness Council are Greg Fryer, Anne Black, Robyn, Kocurek, Janet Haase, Jaclyn Beaty, Obee Obryant, Mayor Kim McMillan, Sarah Schwartz (Community Health Foundation) Dale Brown, Melissa Gomez, Brad Workman, David Davenport, and Bill Harpel. APSU Lady Govs Golf comes in seventh at OVC Women’s Championship

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUOwens Cross Roads, AL – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team didn’t achieve the score it was seeking on the final day of the Ohio Valley Conference golf championship, played at Hampton Cove on The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

As a result, the Lady Govs finished the tournament in seventh place after firing a final-round 318 to end at 942.

Rivers and Spires Quilts of the Cumberland winners announced

 

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The Quilts of the Cumberland Quilt show was during the Rivers and Spires Festival, April 16th-18th at the Madison Street United Methodist Church. There were a variety of quilts from local artists on display from traditional to one of a kind. The event was free and open to the public.

These quilts were simply amazing. The event had juried exhibitions and non-juried exhibitions as well.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrest Dickson Man for Solicitation to Commit Murder

 

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationNashville, TN – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested and charged a Dickson man accused of soliciting a crime victim’s father and offering to murder his child’s killer.

On Monday, while conducting the investigation into last week’s double homicide in Dickson, TBI Agents received information that Jamey Earl Donegan had approached the family of one of the homicide victims and offered himself for hire to murder their child’s killer in exchange for money.

David Midlick named new APSU Women’s Basketball Head Coach

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – A familiar face once again will grace the sidelines for Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team as David Midlick has been named the 10th head coach in program history.

Midlick, a former Govs and Lady Govs assistant  who led Delta State to consecutive Division II tournament appearances and mostly recently served as associate head coach at Memphis, was introduced at a press conference, Wednesday morning, in the Dunn Center.
