Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will play host to Southeast Missouri this weekend in a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series at Cheryl Holt Field to closeout its 2015 regular season.
The Lady Govs (9-34, 5-19 OVC) will open play noon, Saturday, with a doubleheader and conclude play at the same time Sunday with a single game versus the Redhawks (16-25, 9-12 OVC).Sunday also will be Senior Day for Austin Peay, with the Lady Govs honoring its two seniors – Laurel Burroughs and Ashley Eisenbraun – in a ceremony prior to the game. The APSU a cappella choral group VocalEase will sing the National Anthem.
Offensively, the Lady Govs are led by Rikki Arkansas (.355/3 2B/5 RBI) and Burroughs (.333/8 HR/26 RBI), who entered the final weekend batting more than .300, while Chandler Groves (.280/4 HR/25 RBI) and Christiana Gable (.250/8 HR/30 RBI) also have authored solid seasons at the plate.
Southeast Missouri’s offense is led by Kayla Fortner (.398/16 HR/45 RBI), with Lindsey Patterson (.353/7 HR/30 RBI), Savannah Carpenter (.323/3 HR/18 RBI) and Taylor McDannold (.301/1 HR/19 RBI) also hitting .300-plus this season.
In the circle, Natalie Ayala (5-14, 5.20 ERA/30 Ks) leads the APSU pitching staff, while Madeline Krumrey (11-10/3.51 ERA/80 Ks) has been the workhorse for the Redhawks.
