Clarksville Parks and Recreation kicked off Warrior Week with Backroad Brigade, Little Texas Concert Friday night

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Warrior Week started Friday night, May 8th, with a free concert at Liberty Park. The event was in honor of all military personnel and their families.

There was plenty of food and drink like hotdogs, Mexican food, sodas and lemonade for purchase.

Local American rock band Backroad Brigade got things started at 6:30pm. They are a multi-faceted band with influences ranging from the 60s through the 80s Rock, Blues, and Indie Rock.

“I’m down here with Clarksville Singles listening to this good music, enjoying the nice weather and socializing,” replied Lauri Morrison. “I love this band. Their a great opening band. Their really fun.”

Backroad Brigade really got the crowd going with their driving rock sound.

By 8:00pm, everyone was ready for the award-winning, Country artists Little Texas. Little Texas has an energetic sound that brings together the feel and look of rock music with a country music theme.

“I think this is a great event. Little Texas is a great band,” stated Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan. “We are here for a very special cause and that’s to honor our men and women in uniform as part of Warrior Week here in Clarksville. The City of Clarksville is proud of all of them and what they do for our country.”

“We had a good time out here tonight. There are a lot of people here. We had a lot of fun,” said Dalton Akins of Backroad Brigade. “It was a good to honor those that are serving our country.”

For those that did not come, you missed a heck of a show.

Warrior Week continues today, May 9th with the 5th annual Warrior Week Car, Truck, & Bike Show beginning at 11:00am at Heritage Park.

The show is open to public viewing but to enter your car, truck, or bike you must be an Active Duty or retired military, as well as members of the American Legion, DAV, and VFW with an ID card.

The events of Warrior Week are brought to you in part by the City of Clarksville, the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce, The Riverview Inn, Jenkins & Wynne, and Clarksville Family Magazine.

Warrior Week actually started Thursday with the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Godfather Golf Tournament, Movie Night sponsored by FCFCU and yesterday the Marksmanship Competition followed by the Eternal Flame Ceremony. So happy in conjunction with the City of Clarksville we were able to have Little Texas out! Enjoy the rest of Warrior Week!
