Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water sewer line rehabilitation contractors will extend their weekly work schedule to Saturday, June 27th, 2015, on Maple Street in the Rolling Acres subdivision.

Starter Brad Mills Delivers Season-High Eight Shutout Innings

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – Craig Gentry collected three hits, including his third home run in the last nine days, and led Nashville to a 5-0 victory over Memphis at AutoZone Park on Thursday night.

The shutout was the sixth that the Sounds’ pitching staff has posted this season and the win evened The Tennessee Lottery I-40 Cup series to three games for both clubs.

With the three-hit contest, Gentry now has a hit in 17 of his 21 games during the month of June. He started the night with a bang, taking Memphis starter Tyler Lyons deep on the third pitch of the game. The home run was the outfielder’s eighth extra-base hit over his last 14 games.

Are Statistics a True Measure of Learning in Schools?

 

TeachersClarksville, TN – Let’s face it. School evaluations are ruled by statistics these days. Teachers are being evaluated by how well their students are doing on standardized tests. Student end of year grades are being influenced by their statistical performance on standardized tests because those measurements are now being averaged as a percentage of those grades.

Statistics is a branch of math that is involved with looking at numerical data and interpreting what those numbers mean.

Let’s put aside the statistical possibility that a child might have had a bad night the night before the test (like the police arriving to take a parent to jail, or a sibling who was sick and cried most of the night, or the child himself/herself being so nervous s/he was up all night throwing up!). «Read the rest of this article»

Clarksville Police report Traffic Crash on Circle Drive

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Thursday, May 25th, 2015 at 6:52pm, Clarksville Police Officers responded to a single vehicle traffic crash that occurred on the 400 block of Circle Drive.

The vehicle veered off the road and struck a fence. There were five occupants in the vehicle. Only one of the five occupants was injured. The injured person was a juvenile who was first transported by EMS to Gateway Medical Center and then transported by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Austin Peay State University professor Dr. Korre Foster to conduct Académie de Musique choir in Paris

 

The APSU Music DepartmentClarksville, TN – In partnership with the French Académie de Musique, Austin Peay State University assistant professor of music Dr. Korre Foster will conduct a trio of choral performances in July in Paris.

Under a French-American exchange supported through a grant from the Florence Gould Foundation, Foster will be working with the Académie’s Chamber Choir, a collection of university, college and conservatory students gathered from throughout France.

Fort Campbell Intrepid Spirit center doctor provides Traumatic Brain Injury advice to UK Scientific and Medical Advisory Board

 

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – The director of the Intrepid Spirit at Fort Campbell recently met with a scientific and medical advisory board in Lexington, KY, to share lessons learned in establishing Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) regional excellence care.

Dr. Bret Logan, who serves as Intrepid Spirit director and Army Medicine Ambassador, met with the board, known as the Traumatic Brain Injury Project. Logan shared with the board initiatives and programs in place at Fort Campbell to help treat Soldiers with TBI and psychological injures.

Dr. Silke Bernert, medical director for TBI and Acquired Brain Injury Unit at Cardinal Hill Hospital in Lexington, KY, shows Dr. Bret Logan, director of the Fort Campbell Intrepid Spirit, her physical and occupational therapy rooms at Cardinal Hill. Austin Peay State University Governors and Chamber Community Golf Classic set for Friday

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Governors and Chamber Community Golf Classic and Partner Celebration Dinner is Friday and pairings have been announced for the one-day, three-course tournament.

The event, which has seen APSU Athletics and the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce combined their two tournaments, will be played Friday at the Clarksville Country Club, Swan Lake Golf Course and The Links at Novadell in Hopkinsville, KY.

The shotgun start for the four-player, best-ball scramble is 10:30am at the three courses.
