Iten, a Niederglatt, Switzerland native, will be one three amateurs participating in this European Tour event, to be played on the par-72 scenic Alps layout, designed by the late Seve Ballesteros.

Sergio Garcia, who has 28 professional titles, and Lee Westwood, who has 42 professional championships, will head the field. In addition, former Jacksonville State golfer Danny Willett, who was near the top of the leaderboard at the British Open, also is in the field.

Iten recently finished second the Swiss Amateur. In 2013-24, Iten was the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Year after a phenomenal spring that saw him claim medalist honors four times, including the OVC Championship and Auburn Regional, a four-stroke victory in a field that included eventual NCAA Champion Alabama.

In addition, Iten was a three-time All-OVC selection and chosen to the 2014 PING All-Southeast Region team. He played as an individual in the NCAA Championship in Hutchinson, KS.

The 72-hole tourney will rung Thursday-Saturday, with a cut coming after Friday’s second round.
