107th annual Lone Oak Picnic to be held Saturday, July 25th

The Civitan ClubCunningham, TN – The Central Civitan Club will hold the 107th annual Lone Oak Picnic this Saturday, July 25th from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Everyone is invited to attend.

Come out and enjoy entertainment, meet public officials, and purchase excellent chicken and pork barbecue. The picnic grounds are located between Hwy 13 and Alonzo Place in Cunningham, TN.

Parking is off of Alonzo Place. Admission is free.

There will be musical entertainment and for the kids there will be train rides and inflatables.

Everyone had a good time, talking with friends, neighbors and family while eating good food and listening to great music at last year's event.

A car show will delight visitors of all ages. Public officials wishing to briefly address those in attendance may register in the morning. Expect to hear public officials between 11:30am to 12:30pm.

In addition to Central Civitan’s famous barbecue, snacks, sodas, and ice cream will be for sale. Proceeds benefit community causes such as volunteer firefighting, schools, and youth programs.

This year’s picnic is dedicated to the memory of Wade Morgan, Central Civitan leader and graduate from Montgomery Central High School. Wade passed away March 3rd, 2015 from a construction accident.

In honor of Wade’s memory a “Be More Like Wade Scholarship” 5K will take place at the Central Civitan Club building just before the Lone Oak Picnic. Registration starts at 8:00am and the race is slated for 8:30am.

All proceeds will go into a scholarship fund which will be given to a Montgomery Central Senior who demonstrates similar characteristics of #bemorelikewade. He exemplified the true meaning of a genuine person by being a selfless individual and always having an optimistic outlook on life.

Donations can be made under the tab “tickets” as well if you would like to contribute but are unable to attend the event. Any donation big or small will be appreciated.

To find the Picnic, travel to the Hwy 48/13 split just south of Montgomery Central Elementary School. Turn west on Hwy 13. Shortly, across from the Cunningham post office, Alonzo Place will be on the right. Follow Alonzo to a designated parking area on the right.

About the Lone Oak Picnic

The Civitan ClubThe Central Civitan Club has sponsored the Lone Oak Picnic since 1975. Lone Oak is a tradition for candidates in Montgomery County. All the money raised is used in the communities south of the Cumberland River through several projects sponsored by the Central Civitan Club. The Central Civitan Club, for example, supports the local Boy and Girl Scout troops. The club provides financial assistance to victims of house fires in the community.

They also fund scholarships for and support many educational and extra-curricular activities of the students, teachers and staff at Montgomery Central High School, Montgomery Central Middle School and Montgomery Central Elementary School as well as Cumberland Heights Elementary School.
