Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – Zach Neal notched a quality start, but it was not enough as Nashville fell 3-1 to Iowa at Principal Park on Wednesday Night.

Neal no-hit the I-Cubs for the first three innings before Matt Szczur led off the fourth with a double. Next batter Javier Baez tripled, scoring Szczur and giving the home team the first run of the game. Christian Villanueva then hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Baez and the Cubs led 2-0.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer opened up its preseason schedule with a 3-1 victory over Indiana State, Tuesday, at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.

After adjusting to one another as a unit throughout much of the first half, the Lady Govs began to find their rhythm on attacks.

The position was posted on the University’s human resources page, Wednesday. The advertisement will remain on the site until the position is closed but new APSU Athletics Director Ryan Ivey can begin reviewing credentials, Wednesday, August 26th.

Austin Peay State University professor Antonio Thompson researching history of World War II POWs in Tennessee

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – As thousands of American men traveled overseas to fight for the Allied forces during World War II, a surprising number of captured Axis prisoners of war (POWs) were making the opposite intercontinental journey.

A total of 425,000 Axis (Germany, Italy and Japan) POWs were held all across the United States in nearly every state. This marked the first time since the Civil War that large numbers of POWs were held on American soil.

Clarksville Police reports Four Robberies Monday and Tuesday in the Early Morning Hours

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – In the early morning hours of Monday, August 10th and Tuesday, August 11th, 2015, Clarksville Police Officers responded to four robberies. In three of the robberies, the suspect’s description matched.

The first robbery reportedly occurred at 4015 Trenton Road (Exxon Hi-Road) Monday morning around 2:44am. A black male wearing a black knit hat, green balaclava face mask, military-style camouflage shirt, gray pants, gloves, and a military-style camouflage backpack entered the business and displayed a black semi-automatic handgun with a black barrel. The suspect then demanded money and left the area on foot.

Clarksville Police are investigating four robberies that occured Monday and Tuesday.

APSU Lady Govs Tennis announces 2015-16 Schedule

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team announced its 2015-16 schedule, Tuesday, which features 11 home matches.

In the fall portion of the schedule, Austin Peay will compete in four tournaments, beginning with the UTM Fall Invitational, September 11th-13th.
