Nashville Sounds fall late to El Paso Chihuahuas 7-1 at First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds hosted the El Paso Chihuahuas for the first time in franchise history on Friday night, losing 7-1, in front of 9,852 fans at First Tennessee Park.

Tyler Ladendorf made his return to the First Tennessee Park infield and immediately made his presence known; recording a single to leadoff the first, before singling again in the second to give Nashville an early 1-0 lead.

Evansville maintained possession throughout the majority of the first half, and led 10-3 in total shots.

Motor Vessel Mississippi makes stops on the Tennessee River, Cumberland River, docks in Clarksville

U.S. Army Corps of EngineersNashville, TN – The Mississippi River Commission recently navigated the Tennessee River and Cumberland River to gain a fresh perspective for the development of plans to improve the condition of the Mississippi River Basin, foster navigation, promote commerce, and reduce flood risk.

The commission met with stakeholders while inspecting the waterways and visited U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and Tennessee Valley Authority projects.

The Motor Vessel Mississippi made a brief stop at McGregor Park in Clarksville, Tenn., Aug. 11, 2015, during a recent stop along the Cumberland River. The vessel is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ largest diesel towboat and flagship to the Mississippi River Commission, which is inspecting Corps of Engineers projects along the Cumberland River as part of the commission’s annual low water inspection trip. Clarksville Gas and Water announces Residential Sewer Pump Maintenance Scheduled

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water sewer crews will begin residential sewer pump maintenance next week through mid-September in the Swan Lake Villages, Shady Bluff and Rivermont subdivisions.

The full service maintenance will focus on the inspection and testing of alarms, pump motors, amperage, electrical wiring and the removal of debris and grease buildup. The maintenance of each station is estimated to take 1-2 hours to complete and will be done during weekdays between 8:00am and 3:00pm. «Read the rest of this article»

APSU Governors Baseball returns home with positive summer ball results

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – As the summer comes to an end, student-athletes are making the trek back to campus. Among them are members of Austin Peay State University’s baseball team who spent months honing their craft.

Twenty Governors competed in Collegiate Summer Baseball Leagues across the country. The results were promising from the start, including three all-star selections, and finished with eight players hoisting championship hardware.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Fort Defiance to host Civil War Recruitment Day

 

Fort Defiance Interpretive CenterClarksville, TN – Experience history in action at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center’s Civil War Recruitment Day on Saturday, August 29th from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Come spend the day as re-enactors conduct a historical “recruiting” event. Throughout the day children can visit the Commanding Officers to enlist into either the Confederate or Union Armies, drill with the soldiers before receiving their “discharge” papers.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University football team put on full pads for Friday morning’s practice at Governors Stadium, the team’s first full-pad outing of the 2015 preseason.

Closing out the first week of practice, head coach Kirby Cannon was complimentary of his charges, acknowledging the youth and noting the veterans helped ease the learning curve.
