Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: Tickets on sale for VIP event with Serieux: A Temptations Revue, Fort Defiance to host Civil War Recruitment Day, Riverfest Regatta, Fly Fishing program for youth and teens, and Riverfest Human Foosball Tournament.

Tickets on sale for VIP event with Serieux: A Temptations Revue

Join us for the VIP event of the season. Serieux: A Temptations Revue will delight audiences with the sights and sounds of the legendary Temptations as Clarksville kicks off Riverfest on Thursday, September 10th at 7:00pm at Freedom Point.

Tickets are $50.00 per person and include live music, food, and drinks. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.clarksvilleriverfest.com. Discounted tickets are available through Sunday, August 23rd when you use the code “RiverfestVIP” at check out.

Fort Defiance to host Civil War Recruitment Day

Experience history in action at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center’s Civil War Recruitment Day on Saturday, August 29th from 10:00am to 4:00pm

Come spend the day as re-enactors conduct a historical “recruiting” event. Throughout the day children can visit the Commanding Officers to enlist into either the Confederate or Union Armies, drill with the soldiers before receiving their “discharge” papers.

Soldiers and ladies dressed in period uniforms and attire will be on site to share stories about what it was like to be a soldier or woman in the 19th century. Greg Wernke will conduct two demonstrations entitled, “Papers Please” and “Tools of the Soldier”.

Cardboard Boat Riverfest Regatta

Saturday, September 12th, beginning at 10:00am

This fan favorite is back for the ninth year. Boats are constructed from recycled materials and raced down the Cumberland River in a 100-yard dash. Divisions include: adult, youth (with adult), civic/churches, businesses, and local government agencies. Teams must be registered by September 4th to compete.

Space remains in Fly Fishing program for youth and teens!

Do you like fishing? Are you interested in aquatic environments? Clarksville Parks and Recreation has once again teamed up with the National Fishing in Schools Program to offer a class in basic fly fishing!

Class will be held at the Crow Community Center on Thursdays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, September 3rd – September 24th, and is open to grades 6-12. The cost of the class is $10.00 per person. A Community Center ID is required and can be purchased for $5.00. Center IDs are good for one calendar year at all three Community Centers.

Space is available but limited, so sign up now using the registration link found at www.cityofclarksville.com . Registration can also be completed at any of our three community centers as well as our main office, located at 102 Public Square.

Riverfest Human Foosball Tournament

Saturday, September 12th, 10:00am – 8:00pm

Grab five of your favorite friends and compete for your chance to win ultimate bragging rights! Teams (up to 10 players) will compete in this life-size version of your favorite table top game in one of three divisions: Youth (10-17 years old), Adults (18-30 years old), and Semi-Pro (31 years old and above). Teams can be mixed ages. Cost is $60.00 for the entire team ($10.00 per player).
