Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University athletics welcomed back its student-athletes to campus, Sunday night, with a barbecue dinner in the Dunn Center.
During a short program, new APSU Athletics Director Ryan Ivey, whose first official day is Monday, introduced himself to nearly 300 student-athletes. Ivey then introduced APSU President Alisa White, who spoke about the many positive things occurring in the campus community.
In addition to Dr. White, others addressed APSU student-athletes: Greg Singleton, APSU dean of students; Dr. Jess Rutter, of the campus counseling center; Michael Kasitz, University Police Chief; Lauren Maki, Lady Govs basketball player and President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and Josh Carroll, former Govs football player and campus director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Ivey also introduced new Governors Club President Tom Creech.Ivey concluded the program, challenging the student-athletes with his expectations of them as student-athletes both on the field but on campus and in the Clarksville community.
Following the presentation, the student-athletes were treated to a barbecue dinner provided by Mark Wheakley, Len Rye and the Governors Club.
