APSU’s Cross Country Teams head to Greater Louisville Classic Saturday

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University men’s and women’s cross country teams head to Louisville and E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park, Saturday to compete in one of the largest events of the year, the Greater Louisville Classic.

The men’s team will kick things off at 10:45am against competitors from 38 different teams, while the women will square off at 11:30am against runners from 36 teams.

Both teams are looking to ride the energy created at last week’s APSU Cross Country Invitational where key performers Martin Rejman, Wesley Gray, Unjala Lester and Rebecca Wheeler helped their respective teams achieve significant victories over Evansville and Sewanee.

Last week the men had a stellar performance in the four-mile run with Rejman (20:50), Gray (21:05), Daniel Hamm (21:20) and Kyle Harmon (21:25) claiming the top four spots, respectively.

Elijah Wilson (22:24) came in just outside of the top ten finishing in 11th place. Marshall McReynolds (22:29) and Hunter Guthrie (22:54) came in at 13th and 17th place, with Nick Piskor (23:00) finishing strong in 19th place.

The women’s team had several memorable performances as well during their 5K event. Lester (19:22), Wheeler (19:27), Jessica Gray (19:33) and Molly Jordan (19:48) finished in the second, third, fourth and fifth spots, with Sarah-Emily Woodward ( 20:43) rounding out the Lady Govs top five finishers in ninth place.

Sarah Carpenter (21:07) and Alexis Eldridge (21:15) came in at 12th and 13th respectively, while Natalie Olberding (21:56) and Hanna Wise (24:31) finished in 16th and 26th place.
