Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – A fourth-set lapse proved costly as Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team dropped a five-set (22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 17-25, 9-15) Ohio Valley Conference decision to Tennessee State, Friday night at the Dunn Center.

APSU Cross Country Teams head to Virgina for Cross Country Only National Invitational

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s and women’s cross country teams head east to Richmond, VA Saturday, to compete in the Cross Country Only National Invitational.

Both races will be held at Pole Green Park. The men’s five mile race will begin at 8:45am followed by the women’s 5K at 9:30am.

The men’s team is more than equipped with many formidable competitors. Leading the charge is Martin Rejman, who has been the top men’s performer in all four meets this year.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office requests Public Assistance Requested in Vehicle Theft

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is asking the community for help in identifying a burglary suspect. The suspect has been captured on video surveillance camera and is believed to be responsible for the theft of a 1999 Silver Chevy Malibu, cell phone, and $300.00 in cash.

The theft occurred at the Woody’s on Dover Road on October 13th, at approximately 5:39pm.

AAA states Motor Vehicle Crashes still the leading cause of Death for Teens in the United States

 

Teen Driver Safety Week is October 18th – 24th

AAAKnoxville, TN – A significant number of parents are unaware of Tennessee’s Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) guidelines, according to a study commissioned by the Tennessee Department of Health.

The survey showed 14 percent of parents who currently have teen drivers or have parented teen drivers in the last five years were unaware of the law. Tennessee’s current GDL law includes restrictions on passengers, cell phone use and driving at night and includes required practice driving time prior to moving to the next phase.

Austin Peay State University Basketball Bash just two weeks away

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – The 2015 Governors Basketball Bash is just two weeks away.

The annual event is scheduled for Friday, October 30th, at the Bud Barn on the Charles Hand Farm. Cocktails will be served beginning at 6:00pm, followed by the 6:45pm dinner and program, including an APSU basketball trivia contest. Cindy McElroy and the Beagles also will be performing that night.

Tickets for the annual Austin Peay basketball fundraiser are $40.00 each.

Fort Campbell, KY – Past and present Green Berets, unit members and family members of the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), the Legion, rallied together on Fort Campbell for their 54th Reunion September 16th-19th.

Retired Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Mike Cunningham, President of the Chapter 38 of the Special Forces Association, said the annual reunions are very important to the 5th SFG (A). “The kind of training Special Forces does, the missions we have done, since the beginning of Special Forces, creates a unique bond,” he said.

Rally for Rhyan campaign takes hold on multiple fronts

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Rally for Ryhan has taken hold on multiple fronts in mid-Missouri.

The Rhyan is Ryhan Loos, the five-year-old daughter of Jen and Brad Loos, a Clarksville native who played basketball at Northeast High School, later for his father, Dave Loos, at Austin Peay (1998-2001) and now is a second-season Missouri basketball assistant coach. Late last week Rhyan Loos was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

Although Rhyan and the Loos Family have a long fight ahead, they are not facing these challenge alone.

Harris Poll shows Student Loans Continue to Delay Spending Dreams

The Harris PollNew York, NY – With the election “season” well under way, education in general and student loans in particular continue to surface as major topics of discussion.

It should come as no surprise that this topic looms on the agenda for many candidates, considering a majority of Americans (60%) believe the government should regulate college programs to help make sure that graduates can get jobs and repay college loans.

Over one third of Americans (36%) say they are currently paying or have paid student debt in the past, which is on par with 2013 counts (37%).
