Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Service receives Grant from Firehouse Subs

Montgomery County TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Service is pleased to announce the receipt of a $13,891 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The grant funds will be used to purchase an inflatable boat with a jet driven motor for the Montgomery County Rescue Squad.

“With the creation of local blue ways and the increased popularity of kayaking and canoeing, we needed a boat that is more suited for shallow waterways,” says Montgomery County EMA Director and Fire Chief Jerry Buchanan.

“Certain areas of the Red River and many of our creeks have been difficult to maneuver through with our current equipment, so this will certainly fill a void in our fleet. We are grateful to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for giving back to the communities they serve!” said Buchanan.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded more than $15 million in grants to local communities since its inception in 2005.
